AB 2198-H015-ERS2 12.5 Amp Peak Current Output 1 and 3 Phase 190 -
528 VAC Input
About 2198-H015-ERS2 :
The 2198-H015-ERS2 is an AB Kinetix 5500 Ethernet I/P Digital Servo
drive. This servo drive is used for motion and position control
application and capable of directly integrating with controllers
residing on the Ethernet I/P network. This drive provides the
necessary output current and power to the drive a Kinetix servo
motor, following the defined motion and positioning profile.
The 2198-H015-ERS2 is specifically compatible with CompactLogix
5370 controllers for implementing integrated motion over Ethernet
I/P. Depending on the controller, motion axes may be defined. A
motion axes may be composed of any combination of CIP Drives axes,
consumed axes, virtual axes and other configurable axes.
Additionally, Position loop, Velocity loop and Torque loop may be
configured with the controller.
The 2198-H015-ERS2 is powered by an input voltage range of 195-264V
rms, 3-phase and 324-528V rms, 3-phase while the nominal voltage
levels are 240V and 480 V, respectively. This drive provides a
continuous output current (rms) of 13.0 A, peak output Current of
32.5 A and output power of 4.0kW - 8.3 kW depending on the input
voltage supply. This drive has an internal shunt resistance of 60 ?
and internal shunt power of 50 W. This drive supports 300 Hz
maximum velocity bandwidth and 1000 Hz current loop bandwidth.
The 2198-H015-ERS2 comes with Two (2) Ethernet communication
interface. These ports support Linear, Star and Device Level Ring
(DLR) topologies. This eliminates the need of purchasing an
additional adapter to enable communication with the partner
controller and devices. This servo drive is also capable of Safe
Torque-Off (STO) functionality as the integrated functional safety
of the drive.
Typically, a load current is not constant. It varies over time. For
pulse load compatibility, following rules must be met:
a) The pulse power demand must be below 150% of the nominal power.
b) The duration of the pulse power must be shorter than the allowed
Power-Boost Time. (see output section)
c) The average (R.M.S.) output current must be below the specified
continuous output current. If the R.M.S. current is higher, the
unit will respond with a thermal shut-down after a while. Use the
max. duty cycle curve (Fig. 27-2) to check if the average output
current is below the nominal current.
d) For altitudes higher than 2000m reduce the pulse loading
(30W/1000m) or the ambient temperature

Follow these steps to mount the drive in single-axis
configurations.
1. Observe these clearance requirements when mounting a single
drive to the panel:
• Additional clearance is required for cables and wires or the
shared-bus connection system connected to the top of the drive.
• Additional clearance is required if other devices are installed
above and/or below the drive and have clearance requirements of
their own.
• Additional clearance left and right of the drive is required when
mounted adjacent to noise sensitive equipment or clean wire ways.
• The recommended minimum cabinet depth is 300 mm (11.81 in.).
1606-XLE120E & 1606-XLE120EC 24V, 5A; Single Phase Input
Instructions for two phase operation:
a) A phase to phase connection is allowed as long as the supplying
voltage is below 240V(+10%).
b) Use a fuse or a circuit breaker to protect the N input. The N
input is internally not protected and is in this case connected to
a hot wire
Adisadvantages:
a. The faulty power supply can not be recognized. The green LED
will still be on since it is reverse-powered from the other power
supply.
b. It does not cover failures such as an internal short circuit in
the secondary side of the power supply. In such a - virtually
nearly impossible - case, the defective unit becomes a load for the
other power supplies and the output voltage can not be maintained
any more.
