The primary function of the 1747-M2 module is to provide storage for the system’s programs and its data tables. With this SLC 500 series memory device, system data can be easily stored and accessed by compatible processors including the SLC 5/01 SLC 5/02. With a memory type of EEPROM that can hold up to 32 kilobytes and 4,000 instruction words of memory, with a user memory of 64,000 words, this SLC 500 storage module provides ample storage for a variety of functions.

The backplane current for the 1747-M2 at 1 Ampere is 5 Volts of DC; at 175 milliamps, the voltage increases to 24 Volts DC. It has a total program scan time of 0.9 milliseconds and an even shorter scan time of 0.225 milliseconds for its I/O scan.

The 1747-M2 memory device module offers both RS-232 and Ethernet ports as options for network communication; with a flash backup memory available in the case of module failure, it is recommended to completely power down this module and the network it will be placed in prior to installation for safety reasons. Additionally, this unit should be held only by the edges of its plastic housing or by the carrier’s end in order to avoid corrosion through oils on the skin and other dirt.

The 1747-M2 memory device is sensitive to ESD (Electrostatic Discharges), as these charges may alter or completely destroy the unit’s entire memory. Do not place this unit in areas subject to possible ESD.
